What would those filtering options look like, ideally?

Something like the tools on the Google image search page…can’t seem to add a screenshot..but you should be able to filter by at least type, date added. Ideally dropdown list that you could select multiple types (content/Forum posts/courses/quizzes, etc), date range or sort by most recent, paid or free, etc..

Hi Emma, you can add screenshots using Markdown

We’re not planning to filter by courses and quizzes like the existing moodle.net, but I’m keen to dig into this a bit more.

Where are you envisaging this filtering happening? At the community or collection level?

Hola!

    Just to (auto-)translate Sandra’s reply:

Hello! I can think of the use of labels for the collection. Every time you create the collection that allows you to place fields that are then searchable… and that is editable as the collection grows.

It can be very useful, first of all to indicate in some way what kind of material we can find in the collection : for example: “mathematics”; “digital books”; “music” … and could also be used as filter criteria. This criterion could be used at the level of All Communities .. in such a way that it allows me to place or choose from a “selection of labels”, and to bring only those collections that match the label(s) searched for.

Maybe something like the next photo search: * sample

    I’m sorry if I misunderstood @EmmaRichardson’s proposal.

Yes, I think there’s three things here:

    1. Tagging - on the way and explained here

    2. Search - we’ve decided to do this across all federated instances of MoodleNet to provide more value for users and to simplify things for instance admins (they will only have to enter an API key)

    3. Filtering - we need a way to filter and/or sort communities and collections. We’ve made a start with sorting communities on this issue

Most importantly, the search has be quick - autofilling as you type kind of search is the best I have seen (e.g. quickuserlist moodle plugin)

So there is no easy way to share courses between moodle instances? I think moodle.net could be github/gitlab for educators, where I can publish a course, others can download, comment, be notified about updates....

https://tracker.moodle.org/projects/MDLNET/issues/MDLNET-66 So that means collections are only bookmarks?

Yes, the “fork, remix, share” approach that you describe is our guiding principle.

Right now, we’re in alpha and have been testing with URLs only in collections. However, it won’t be long before we allow image uploads (to test the feature) and then any kind of resource, within reason.
