Milestone: UI Tweak

I’d like to see my Milestone icons be more visually decoupled from the PL icons. Currently Milestones are displayed at the top of the screen in the very top tool(?) bar, and then the same milestone icon shows up in the calendar year with all the other projectlab derived icons.

I was wondering if my Milestones would be better off displayed below the horizontal (year/age) axis right under the calendar year that my milestone is defined as. Clicking and dragging my milestone icon allows me to change the year, and just clicking the icon displays the change icon shape, change icon color, configure milestone, etc. menu.

If this spot on the screen doesn’t work due to how it affects the real-estate, then instead of having my milestone icons and projectlab icons build upwards from the data during that year, continue to have the projectlab icons build upwards from the data while my milestone icons would be at the top of the screen building downwards to the data for that year.

This decoupling would not only help me see my milestones, but also help me inform my spouse plus the drag-and-move would let us quickly see changes for instant What-If scenarios.

At the moment, for me, my milestone icons and the projectlab icons are to similar for me to quickly scan and find.

I like the idea a lot, and in particular the drag and drop of a milestone on a year of the graph to quickly modify its date. This would actually improve how the milestone time slider can be used, by making large changes in time easier. The slider can then be used to more precisely set the value, for instance if it is an “at date” setting (opposed to “at year”). This could also be used for setting dependencies before or after a linked milestone more visual. I could see dragging a milestone onto another would link it.

Along with this suggestion should be an option to simply hide them altogether in the chart options > Appearance > Show Icons area.
