Spouse Location, and separate taxation of partners

PL has the concept of Location (for better tax calcs), including the ability to set up a starting location in the About Me section…

…however this assumes that for a Joint account, both Me & Spouse live in the same Location. In the scenario where Me & Spouse start the plan as being single, and then get married X-yrs into the plan, Spouse could be living in a different location than Me.

Spouse should have their own Location setting for proper tax cals of Spouse details. Upon Marriage, PL can be informed where a Joint location would be…either as part of the configuration of the Marriage expense item (ask for joint location when ‘update status to married’ checkbox is enabled), or as part of the configuration of a ‘Get Married’ milestone.

I feel like folks who want this would also need entirely separate expenses during this period of single living. i.e. completely isolated income, expenses, cash flow priorities etc. This has already been requested in a different form. https://changemap.co/projectifi/projectifi/task/10674-allow-for-two-planning-profiles/

I feel like these two could be needed together, if we’re going to go down this road.

Mike – consider adding you comment to Tiger’s request. I think they would be stronger together.

We’ll let both of these live on for now – but we should try to merge them, or think of them together.

Added my comments, and this URL, to that other suggestion.

There are many things in the suggestion box that are intertwined… your post-it wall of the collection of ideas clustered into PL concepts is probably pretty colorful :)
