Plan changes/"what if" should not affect projection line before present date.
When a plan involves starting from a set date point, PL will overlay their progress on top of the projection graph. When the user changes the plan or does a “what if” scenario, the change affects the projection line all the way back to the start of the graph, rather than going forward from the present date.
Case Study: A user is contributing 10% of their salary to their 401k. for 5 years. They decide to bump it to 15%. If they change the plan to 15%, it will go calculate the entire line as if they had been doing 15% for 5 years. They have not. The plan is changed going forward. A work around for this is to “stop” the 10% at that time and “start” a 15% going forward, however doing this change for all of the little adjustments that may be done can result in very messy projections.
A tick mark for “Apply change to start of plan?” or “Apply change starting now, going forward?” would would well.
