Headspace

Not possible directly, but if you use iOS, you can sync Headspace to Apple Health and get your meditation records into Exist from there. On Android you can sync to Google Fit, which syncs meditation time to Exist.

@colewashere sadly, doesn’t look like Apple Health supports mindfulness/meditation values, so it isn’t possible.

@colewashere Thanks for the link, Cole. My fault for saying it wasn’t possible, as I couldn’t find this when Josh asked me. Looks like it’s new in iOS 10. I’ve added meditation minutes from Apple Health to “under consideration”, as I don’t want to promise it before I test it but I’m happy to look into it when I get a chance. You’d be able to correlate happiness with meditation. Would be interesting to see other effects of meditation

Belle and Josh - Just wanted to update this and mention that “meditation minutes” are now attributes that can be accessed from both Apple Health AND Google Fit.

I’ve emailed Headspace and requested that they work with Exist on a potential integration, but in the likely scenario that they don’t respond with an enthusiastic “yes!” ;) , it seems as though you could technically integrate headspace across both Android and iOS simply by pulling meditation minutes from Google Fit and Apple Health, respectively.

What do you think? Would this be possible? Seems as though adding an additional attribute to an existing integration might even be an easier development path than a full-fledged stand-alone Headspace integration.

Do we know for sure that Headspace supports Google Fit? This is all I could find about that integration, saying it doesn’t, but who knows how out of date that is.

There’s a suggestion for Meditation from Google Fit already so yes, once that’s added, theoretically that covers many apps that integrate with Google Fit or Apple Health. You’re right that it is much simpler to add.

Josh - It’s definitely supported in the app, so i sent them an email last night asking why their support site said that Google Fit wasn’t supported yet. It looks like they actually updated their support site over the past 12 hours, because the same link you shared above now contains instructions for linking Headspace to Google Fit. here it is.

I’ve also sent a screenshot of the integration to Exist’s twitter account just in case it’s helpful.

Thanks for that! I thought it might just be out of date. Good on them for updating it so quickly.

Hi - Any progress on being able to track mindful minutes in Exist - either with Headspace or just iOS health metrics? Thx!

Mike, mindful sessions from Apple Health are already supported. Hope that helps!

Did anything happen with grabbing meditation stats from Google Fit in the end? I have the Google Fit - Headspace integration set up and it works fine. Just wondering if anyone has that coming through into Exist? 😊

Yes, meditation time from Google Fit is supported now, so if you have Google Fit connected (and Headspace is syncing that data correctly) we’re able to pull it in.

Ah, cool! Not seeing anything yet from yesterday and it definitely works with my Google Fit. I’ll keep an eye out today. Thanks for the speedy response and for an app that seems very promising so far!

Send a support request in Exist if you continue to see no meditation data, and I’ll dig into it :)

Scratch that - it now appears to be working! Don’t have the old data, which is a shame. Out of interest, how far back will Exist sync data from Google Fit? Perhaps I can push the older data manually… 🤔
