Assign priority muscle groups for accessory exercises (1.14.0)

You can ask the app to choose more frequently triceps, hamstrings, biceps and so on exercises. So you can ask the app to focus more on your week points (like do more triceps exercises if triceps are your week point in bench press)

And how would that work? In PPL you cycle through all muscle groups on schedule. In Prep 0 full body you do upper and lower on alternating days. In Prep 1 and 2 you currently have options to focus on squat, bench, deadlift, or balanced. So how would this be different?

For PPL I would say no change. For prep 0 full body focusing on something would make it show up each time. So if you are focusing on chest for example every upper day would have a chest exercise (or at least have it more frequently) since at the moment you don’t see every muscle group every two workouts. For preps 1 and 2 it would just increase the frequency of a specific muscle group. Idk how the additional lifts are decided but maybe if you want to focus on triceps it gives you tricep work at least every other workout without affecting the frequency of your double bench sessions in prep 2 for example like how changing the focus does. I think if I knew how exactly the app programs additional work I could give a more useful answer

To add to this, in terms of how it should work. Say on bench your limit is pec strength rather than tricep, currently you might get one pec exercise and one tricep exercise every 10-14 days. If you could prioritise pec over tricep you would get 2:1 ratio so you more frequently get assigned pec rather than tricep.

So this wouldn’t be the same as squat, bench, deadlift focus. You would still have a balanced distribution between the 3 lifts, but within each lift you are prioritising one of the prime movers.

For instance I never get enough additional quad work I would like that prioritised in Prep 1-3.

It basically first ranks your muscle groups in increasing risk of injury. So the riskiest is at the bottom. That might leave calves at the top since it’s hardly ever worked, for example. Next it looks what the priorities are. Calves are not a top priority, while the prime movers are (chest, quads, glutes/hams). Those, however, are frequently worked so are hardly ever not getting any stimulation. While those are a priority, their injury risk is higher. That pushes them down the list a bit. So if triceps were second on the list under calves, it would skip over calves and assign you triceps.

This suggestion then at least partially wants to do away with the injury risk calculations and just put it on some fixed rotation. At least that’s how it looks to me.

So it organizes the list based on risk of injury and priorities then picks from the top? So after hitting a certain group risk of injury goes up so that group goes down? If I am understanding that correctly why not add a third consideration, focus, that moves up 1 or 2 muscle groups if they are your focus at the moment. It would to some extent by pass the injury risk calculations but it wouldn’t do away with them entirely. It would just increase the frequency of certain groups without necessarily locking them into a fixed schedule.

That’s correct. If people are only interested in more prime mover additional exercises I could make the app ignore SBD contributions to injury risk. That would definitely give you more chest, quads, and hams for example.

If we just talk about bench press. We have allot of muscle groups that we use for Bench press. But if my bench press is failing midway, then It’s more likely it is because of week triceps but not week shoulders so it wouldn’t benefit me if the app was giving me shoulder workout whit bench press workout. And that is what I would like to see in the app. That I could pick a muscle group that would benefit me in the bench press.

Done. You’ll be able to toggle muscle groups on and off on the setup page. That won’t mess up the injury risk prioritization mentioned above.
