why am I having to edit each suggestion in order to approve it? Or am I doing something wrong?

Generally you’ll want to edit the description, change the type from “suggestion” to something more relevant, and perhaps move it into a different list. But if you’re just approving things without modifying anything, a quick approve button makes sense.
