Track Screen Time

Add the option to connect apple’s device screen time to Reflect.

Apple tracks device screen time usage. Apps can access this data to see device usage patterns. These data would be useful to incorporate into Reflect for those who have goals or habits that involve device use.

Hi Wade, this would be a great feature, but we looked into this and to the best of our knowledge Apple does not provide a public API that allows third-party iOS apps to access Screen Time data. Screen Time information is considered sensitive user data, and Apple restricts access to it to protect user privacy. Do you have additional information regarding this?

Appreciate you looking into this. Another app I use, Opal, does have access to Screen Time data. Not exactly sure the mechanism, but I was able to grant permission and see that permission in the Screen Time settings.

A brief search didn’t yield any other informations, but I’m not very experienced here. Will update if I find anything else. Thanks!

I will look into Opal. I know that apple provides views that let you present screen time data to the user, but if the app wanted to extract that information, that’d be a different store. Still, I could be wrong, so I’ll dig a little deeper.

Yes exactly. Apps are able to offer views to the users displaying the screen-time, but can’t directly access the data. That is the same for every app interacting with screen-time.
