Perhaps an option like the tvOS homescreen, where it is light/dark depending on time of day. But agreed. Dark should be default at least.

Hopefully from twitter it sounds like implementation uses tvOS General settings > appearance > light / dark / automatic (so you can have it always dark, for example).

This is a no brainer. White backgrounds on tv apps is no good.
