Email alerts when trakt authentication stops working

I have trakt set up. It apparently stopped working at some point. I fixed it by coming to the site and re-authenticating, but it would have been nice to have been alerted.

I feel like a complete jerk! I missed the notification and I was not able to allocate as much time to Exist Integrations over the last 6 months.

I think this is a very good suggestion. It’s something that I’ve thought a lot about. If I could I’d prefer not to have users email addresses, but the library I use for authentication required it so I do have your email address. I hate getting unsolicited email so I put in the Privacy Policy that I’d never email you. That would make things difficult in this case.

However, I do think we need to balance this with how Exist Integrations handles the API getting disconnected. When I receive a 401 (Unauthorized) from a service, I disconnect the integration to Exist. As you mention, you can reconnect to get your data to pull again. There is no notification currently, so the only way you would know is if you’re closely monitoring your Exist dashboard.

I think a good solution for this is to give you the ability to enable email notifications only when the connection to a service is disconnected. I will add this to the Exist Integrations v2 functionality (see: https://changemap.co/exist-integrations/exist-integrations/task/7292-take-advantage-of-exist-api/)
