Quantitative factors

I would like a way to have a factor involve quantity. In other words, I could indicate 20 minutes of driving and 40 minutes of driving. But I don’t want to see how 20 minutes of driving affects my symptoms. I want to see how the amount of time driving affects my symptoms. Similarly, I don’t want to have to make a separate option for 1 minute, 2 minutes, etc. Even just an integer that could be incremented would be better than nothing

    Huge YES.

    Factors presently are two state: on/off. So many data points are numeric or a rating. Effectively, I believe the concept of Health Measurements should be available when defining factors.

    I presently have a 30+ health measurements replacing factors. It’s painful because health measurements are not located in the same area as where I’m entering things like sleep, food, and mood.

    If things like the air quality measurements can’t be made automatic then this would be easier as well. Now i’ve added a lot of < factors to keep track of the different ppm

    For some a sliding scale? Like how you can enter/see sleep hours might be handy. If being able to set the increments, minimum and maximum and which end is good or bad. And when there are correlations between doing it to much or to little, being able to somehow show the sweet spot.

    Enormous yes! I have so many categories because of this. Light therapy 30 min. Light therapy 45 min. Light therapy 90 min. Etc etc etc

    Would be great if bearable could detect the ideal amount of something. Like 10 minutes training does nothing, 30 minutes and your happy but after 60 minutes your symptoms are rising. Recommendation: 45 minutes.

    This would be helpful for me as I’m working on smoking cessation and tracking the precise number of cigarettes per day is currently tough.

    Yes please, counting of factors by +/- button scale. And ability to edit the count-value directly. To count “cups of coffee”, “number of chocolate Bars”, “hours reading”.

    Not sure, but can’t you use a custom Health Measurement to create a quantitive variable like cigarettes?

    Another huge yes to this. While — as Mark mentions — Health Measurements are quantitative factors that you can customise, those measurements do not show up under ‘Advanced Symptom Insights’.

    Like Jens, I think it would be great “if bearable could detect the ideal amount of something.” It would also be very useful (actually most useful for me as a person trying to pace with ME/cfs) for Bearable to tell me: “avoid values above w/below x for quantitative factor y or health measurement z.”

    For those desiring this feature, btw: the horizontal graph view under Advanced Symptom Insights already allows you to display health measurements on the graph, providing good insight into how symptoms vary with, for example, step count.

    Huge yes. I do several things, like tVNS treatment, where you optimize the time spent doing the treatment. So knowing how different lengths of treatments affect me is helpful

    Absolutely! Especially helpful for factors where a little bit is good but too much is bad, e.g. exercise or time with friends.

    Yeah, this would be great. My current solution for this, for walking is three separate factors: [10, 20] min walk (20, 40] min walk (40, 60] min walk

    60 min walk

    Then I try to look at the effect of each and determine if there’s a trend.

    This would be incredibly helpful for me too, in trying to keep track of the number of times in a day I experience a specific symptom. (I’m trying to track only incidence, it’s not the kind of thing where a scale for severity is helpful.) Currently I’m using custom health measurements for that and just putting “1” in the box every time I log it, with the settings to total all the numbers in a given day. But it’s a clumsy workaround, doesn’t tell me anything about what times of day the incidents occur, and doesn’t integrate well with everything else.

    One way this could be accomplished is like a calendar based activity tracker for each day. Entry could be done manually or via timers. For example if I watched TV from 6-7:30 pm and I read from 7:45 to 8:26, I could enter those into a calendar like events in any other calendar. Timers could be for common activities and added to the main page like medications. Having these available as widgets would be awesome! The idea of a timer is I could just toggle it on/off and it keeps track of it. The ides is just that all activities factors, things with durations, all end up on a single source of truth calendar that with data that can correlate symptoms/etc with total times spent, times of day, order relative to other activities, etc. This could provide some really powerful insights!

    I would love to see this feature. Some use cases include meditation (how long did I meditate for), screen time (how much screen time did I have today), and deep work time (how long did I spend doing deep work today).
