Group medications

It would be great if we could group the medications that we typically take in one go e.g. I have tablets 1,2,3, 4,5. I take 1,2 and 3 every day, 4 on alternate days and 5 as needed so the groups might be Group A: 1,2,3 Group B: 1,2,3,4 5 (as existing process)

If I were to tap the add button for a group then it would add the default dosage for each medication at the time it was tapped. This will save on clicks and make the process more streamlined!

This would be so helpful! Especially to group things that I do not take often or things like daily meds, nsaids/cold meds, recreational, etc.

Yesssss, I take 5-10 meds/vitamin/supplements three times a day, in the same groups each time. Would be so much better to say “Took my 8am pills” and have them all checked off

yes please! I take a group of medications in the morning and a different group in the evenings and being able to “take all” for each group would be super helpful

This was exactly my suggestion. I take 1 med as soon as I wake up, then 9 meds at once later in the morning. 2 meds in the middle of the afternoon and 5 meds a couple hours before bedtime. It gets so tedious going down the list and checking each one. Especially since I usually can’t update the app right away, so then I have to change the time on each and every entry. PLEASE, please add this feature.

This exactly. Take all option for medication sets with a set time.

This would be so helpful. I take 4-5 different medicines every morning. It takes so long to do it manually. Medication is an priority feature for most chronically Ill. I need an app where the medication log is easy.

One Time Stamp for Multiple Medications

Right now when recording when I take multiple medications at once you have to change the time for each individual medication. It would be great if (like in other grouping like MOOD) the user could record the time and then check off multiple medications that were taken then.

Multiple Medications page The ability to add multiple medication pages (i.e. “Morning Medications, “Nighttime Medications”) for us folks that are on more than a couple of meds so you can click one button “Taken” instead of ticking off several meds one at a time -Jade Greene

I agree that it would be helpful to group medications. I would like to separate out recurring/maintenance medications from vitamins, supplements, and as-needed medications.

I think it would also help to treat this like the saved Routines in the Factors section. The user could then create medication groups that are custom to their specific needs.

Custom medication groups could be created for: - Time of day (Ex: morning, afternoon, before bed, etc.) - Prerequisites (Ex: before eating, after eating, take with water, etc.) - Variable dosage (Ex: determined by symptom severity, medication tapering or titration, etc.) - Different frequencies (Ex: twice daily, every other day, weekly, etc.)

I couldn’t have said it better myself, Heather! I take 15 different meds and 3 vitamins. I take a pile in the morning and a pile before bed. It would be so much more convenient to be able to click once instead of going through my entire list to pick out the meds I need. I have organized them in order I take them but some I take twice a day so I still have to hunt.

Yes. The medication recording system is unsustainably fiddly. I’m turning it off on my home page and just using a different app, because having to do two clicks for every single med every single time (more if you forget to record right then and have to do it later!) is insane. And if I can’t record all the major factors in Bearable, the point of it is kind of lost…

Please please please do this! I’ve been tracking it on the change map for months. I’ve given up on accurately tracking my meds with bearable because I have so many it’s too cumbersome. Med tracking was the reason I started using bearable in the first place.

I currently use my own groups I created (I.e. “morning Meds”), but there are some I don’t take every day and this doesn’t accurately capture if I run out of something to correlate with tracking my symptoms. This is hands down my number one request for this app!

Having different “bundles” for AM, PM, and as-needed meds would be great. It would also be nice to have a way to check how often I’m using the non-daily meds (e.g., how many times I’ve needed my rescue inhaler in the past week).

I take a different group of meds (and a lot of them) at night than during the day so a “routine” function like already added but for meds would be ideal and make tracking infinitely easier.

I really thought this had been implemented but looking for it in the app today I couldn’t find it. Please make this a thing!

Also to create sets of meds like the routine feature so I don’t have to click all of them I can just say morning meds or noon meds and all of them will fill.

I really hope this one goes through. The ability to group am and pm meds, as-needed meds for each occasion, and other reasons feels like one of the biggest gaps on this app, in my opinion.

I’ve actually managed to achieve “meds grouping” by setting up my meds as custom factors instead of under the meds tab and then I made a group button for them. Made life so much easier and I’ve managed to track down some really interesting side effects!

(copying/pasting this from another ‘group meds’ suggestion)

    Making the case

    1. People with chronic illnesses (Bearable’s target audience) usually take many medications (5-10+).
    2. These medications are often taken in bundles and on schedules (2x/day, 1x/wk, etc)
    3. Medications are also often taken ad-hoc, based on symptoms.
    4. The time medications are taken matters a lot to determine cause/effect (a big Bearable value proposition).
    5. Bearable’s current ‘copy last entry’ feature does adequately work for most ad-hoc nor scheduled medications, if the time medications are taken matters.

    Current UX

The result is users must tap medications one-by-one, which is tedious and undermines Bearable’s core value proposition. Personally, I take about 20 meds/supplements daily, twice a day, as well as a number of ad-hoc meds. As ‘copy last entry’ does not work for me because the time I take meds is never exactly the same, I wind up tapping about 40 times if I enter into Bearable when I take them.

However, if I don’t enter meds at the time I take them, I must go back one-by-one to edit times, which adds a huge amount of effort. For me, this adds another 40-80 taps/scrolls as the time picker is slow. Additionally, there is an interaction delay of approx 500ms when selecting and confirming that often means I must tap twice (this is a separate bug/perf issue).

    Product Recommendation

    1. Let us create groups of medications and name them (e.g. ‘morning probiotics’, ‘evening statins’, ‘histamine meds’, etc)
    2. Let us tap groups to mark all medications therein as taken at the time. Let that time be editable as all other times are.
    3. Rejoice that you have saved people a huge amount of time & effort, and have build an app whose UI now better reflects the ground truth of how people think about their medications.
    4. Rejoice that you now have a data structure that can be used in a variety of other ways, including analytics (are my histamine meds working?) and data entry (hey siri record that I took my histamine meds).

Design- and PM-wise this is an easy and very useful feature to build!

Thanks Eoghan! I’m crossposting my feedback from reddit here so ppl can see.

The TLDR is I think we need to see more of the basic UX of adding, changing time, undoing. You’ve also added the idea of medication schedules to groups, which seems like scope creep and can undermine the simplicity of a basic grouped med logging feature. But it’s a good start!

We had a related suggestion from another member of the community:

    ” Supplement Stack Presets.

In morning and at bedtime, I tend to take a stack of specific supplements repeatedly for days to weeks at a time.

It would be nice if I could create these stacks in Bearable, so that I can tap one selection to check/apply the stack in my supplement list, rather than scroll through my long list of supplements and hand-pick each supplement in the stack, day after day.

The current option of “re-applying the last selection” (forget what it’s called) doesn’t really work for this need.”
