Turn Arc into a combined tracking and diary

Arc already have Notes, but adding tags, weather, markdown, videos, sound recordings would be absolutely awesome.

With Arc 3.0 there’s been gradual improvements to the Notes feature. And I’m really keen to get hashtags / tags added at some stage too. Ditto weather!

For markdown, I think that makes sense as another step along the way of upgrading the Notes feature, for sure.

Videos should already be picked up from your Photos library, although I think the current photo viewer isn’t able to play videos. So that would need to be fixed at some stage.

For sound recordings, I’m not sure what the right approach would be for that. Does iOS have its own auto note taking app? I can’t find one in the default apps, and I’m guessing the recordings won’t be available to Arc. So that would likely have to be something built into Arc separately.

I rather often use the voice recorder (on Denmark phones called โ€œ Memoerโ€), which would be nice to place by location as well.

Aah, it’s called “Voice Memos” on my phone. I couldn’t find it before.

But yeah, it looks the recordings aren’t available in a way that Arc could access ๐Ÿ˜ž

I already use DayOne for most of this โ€“ please don’t blow up Arc with feature creep, all of which require lots of work to do really well and create massive overlap with existing, popular and well-used apps. Good interoperability and integration would be much better. How about rather improving on the export capabilities? :)

Sascha, if there’s more export functionality you’d like, then definitely file feature requests for that functionality!

Currently it’s looking like improvements and extensions to Arc’s note taking functionality is a popular request, so we will be working on that functionality in future releases. Most likely feature candidates being the ability to add tags, and to make use of Markdown / formatting.

Be awesome to look to include data from last.fm scrobbles and trakt.tv to help form an overview of music and tv/movies watched ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Brendan, Last.fm integration is already partially complete! Please vote on the feature over here:

    https://changemap.co/bigpaua/arc-app/task/3238-lastfm-integration/

The more votes, the easier it is for me to justify spending time on finishing it up ๐Ÿ˜„

I also recommend submitting a request for Trakt.tv integration too. If enough people are interested in that, I can get busy building that into the app too ๐Ÿ˜Š

Once I can write my daily notes (diary) using the Arc app, I definitely wonโ€™t need a separate journal app. Arc will have it all in one place.

Peter, I think you’re going to like Arc 4.0 then ๐Ÿ˜‰ But I’ll hold back on saying much about that until development is a bit further along…

Bring on 4.0! The tracking in this app is brilliant. I can’t fault it

Hey Matt now you are making everybody too excited with these news! Haha! I quite appreciate the amazing work you are doing developing the Arc. By the way, I believe everyone who suggests and ask for new features should also share the app with their friends.

I find myself writing more and more notes into Arc, so I would like to see a diary-optimised view at least at the day level. Unlike the other views, it probably shouldnโ€™t be in reverse chronological order since reading uses a top-down convention.
