Faster loading on month / year view

Hi! First of all love the app.

My main use case is viewing an overview of my monthly or yearly activity. I like to reflect back in my travels throughout the year… however, neither the month view or year view load for me. In the past, when they have loaded, they load incredible slow. Is there a way the loading for the year/month overview can be optimized? That is my only complaint with the app. Thanks!

    Hi Connor!

    There is a way to make these views load more reliably / faster. Plug your phone in to power before opening the monthly/yearly timeline view. That will allow Arc to queue up and start updating the necessary simplified map data immediately.

    The data used for the monthly/yearly timeline maps is collated during a scheduled background task that runs daily. But often iOS won’t allow enough background processing time for the task to be completed, creating a backlog. To get around this Arc will also run those collation tasks for the visible date range, but only when the phone is plugged in to power, due to it being an energy intensive task.

    If you flick back and forth between previous months then forward again, or between yearly and monthly view, you should see the updated data start to appear, while it’s being collated behind the scenes.
