Higher character limit for mood notes
“I find the 1000-character limit is okay for some days, but in other days a few things might happen which push me over it.
For example:
- This morning I found out a colleage speaks a language I’m learning, which was awesome! I wrote how it made me feel, and a brief summary of the conversation
- I had a 1-on-1 meeting with my boss, I summarised how it went
- I started watching a new series, I wrote to describe my first impressions but I hit the character limit
I completely understand Exist isn’t a journalling app, I’ve written a program to export my Exist notes to Obsidian which I use for longer entries, but personally I’d consider 1000 characters a bit too small for busy days. I’ve found myself having to cut out certain less-important details and choose different (smaller) words to fit stuff in, when it’s really just a few summaries.
I think a 2000-character or 5000-character limit would be much better, even 1500 would give some breathing room. To give an idea, this post is trimmed to 1000 ch”
We have no plans to increase this limit. Unfortunately you’ll need to be pithy :)
