Having had a look at how Facebook lets us authenticate users, this one is going to be more of a hassle than I’d thought. Users will need to reauthorise Exist to access their Facebook accounts every 60 days, which should be possible just by visting the Exist site, but not everybody will visit it that regularly. As a fallback I guess we’ll send a reminder email after 59 days, “Please reauthorise Facebook so we can keep importing your data”, but I wish that wasn’t necessary. It’s going to get very annoying.

Folks, it’s looking inevitable that we’ll have to send a reminder email every 60 days asking you to reconnect Facebook so we can keep importing your post and comment counts, etc. Is this something you can live with?
Personally, I think after the second or third email I’d find this pretty annoying, but I also don’t care much for Facebook. Curious to know what others think because if everyone’s against it, maybe we won’t add it. We do already support RescueTime which can track time spent on Facebook (on desktop, anyway).

I can live with re-auth as well, especially when you know it’s just a thing that has to happen and not a fault. I do use FB a lot, but mostly from my phone so RescueTime (which I only use at work anyway) isn’t an accurate gauge. Comments/activity effects would be much more useful I think, so if we have to re-auth to get that then all good :-)
