We haven’t deliberately ignored this when adding calendar support, it’s just that we have to handle recurrence ourselves and actually it’s really hard.
I really really want this. Also how does Google store their reoccurring events and why would you need to make the functionality yourselves?
Hey Stephanie, events in iCal format are stored once, the first time you make them, with rules about how often they should recur. So if you made a recurring event 3 years ago that recurs every 2 weeks, for example, to work out if anything recurred today we’d have to search back through all events that far, find the original, and keep adding that event it every two weeks until we work out if it’s going to recur today. Not fun!
Most of my work events are recurring (weekly meetzings, lectures, etc.), so without it calendar integration is not really useful at all… I hope you do figure it out.
Rather than tracking events as they are being created, is it possible to look at a day on the calendar (e.g., today, or yesterday, or tomorrow) and simply grab the total time marked as busy?
I agree with Marina as well. Most of my events are recurring events (bi-weekly meetings, class, dinners). I feel like I’m missing a lot not being able to capture these.
Could you make use SIA coin tech for all the processing necessary to do this? (Since iCal events are stored only once)

Sorry, I don’t understand how SIA is related to recurring events. In general cryptocurrencies are probably not going to be the answer here.
I use recurring events to track most of my routines and (good) habits.
Correlating this data with in-app insights seems quite valuable.
Custom tags are perfect for tracking routines and habits! Give them a go and see how that works for you.
Agree with total time in meetings/busy would be huge!
I would also love this. I have an odd work schedule that repeats on a three week pattern and have workdays on my calendar as repeating events. Correlations with particular days of the week mean less for me because my work days vary so much. It would be really helpful to see correlations with my work days.
I’m curious if JMAP for calendars will make this more feasible. The standard isn’t ready, but may be worth keeping an eye on. FastMail is working on this, as mentioned in this toot.
