I believe there’s an unofficial API, but we’re not keen on using those. Anyone is welcome to make a community integration via our own API however!

In the meantime, there are some hacks and unofficial plugins to get last.fm scrobbling working with Play, and we’d recommend that route.

Small update. Last.fm does work with Google Play Music officially now.

Sorry, there’s still no API. You can use last.fm along with the official Android Play Music app, and there are other options for Play Music clients on web and desktop that’ll scrobble to last.fm too — so you should be fine tracking your plays via last.fm wherever you are, as long as you get set up :)
