Ability to archive custom tags

I recently decided to stop reporting on one of my custom tags. I found that the only way to remove the tag from my list of tags was to delete it, along with all the data I had previously reported.

Instead, I’d like to be able to archive tags. I don’t need a way to unarchive tags, or even the ability to see a list of my archived tags. I’d just like the ability to remove the tag from my list of current tags. But ideally when I look back on previous days that had that tag, I’d still see the reporting for that tag.

Totally fair. We actually started this way, but without a means to delete tags, which meant if you made a typo or something you had that incorrect tag forever. As part of the upcoming manual tracking changes, I think we’ll probably make it possible to archive or delete all manual attributes, including tags.

I’m excited about all the manual tracking work y’all are working on.

In the meantime, I can probably soft-archive a tag by renaming it something like “zz_“, so it’s sorted at the end of my list.

Hmm, the angle brackets I used got deleted. I meant “zz_ORIGINAL_NAME_OF_TAG”.

Yeah, that’s one way folks are getting around it currently.

If there was a way to “like” a status update on here, I’d do it. Happy to see this one in progress!

In the mobile apps and on the web, you can go to your settings and toggle tags (and other manual attributes) off to deactivate them.
