Most OECD countries have property transaction taxes levied at the point of sale, for example SDLT in the UK.

In some countries, like Germany and France, these are flat rates, but in the UK it is bracketed, and can have some fairly complicated tweaks (e.g. in the UK, SDLT rates are increased by up to 5 percentage points for a second home).

At the moment the only way I could simulate this in ProjectionLab is to calculate the property transaction tax myself, add it to the property value and put the sum in the ‘purchase cost’ field of the property purchase. It would be amazing if I could create a property transaction tax for property purchases and create my own brackets and rates for it, much like I can with custom income taxes. Or, to start with, just being able to apply a flat property transaction tax rate like I can with financial transaction taxes would be an improvement.
