Additional dependent line items

On the dependent expense page, it would be SUPER cool to have options for various expenses. All that I can do right now is put a baseline expense (something for food/incidentals). I would love another few fields - e.g. “preK expense”, “K-8 expense”, “high school expense”, “daycare expense/month”, maybe even “wedding” and such. On the current site I can add these as separate expenses, but with 5 kids and 5 expense types, I would need to input 25 expense fields, AND I would need to calculate how old I would be when each kid is in preK, etc. Esp since this is one of my main variables in my different plans, this would be a lot of work.

This seems more like granular budgeting than accumulation projection and forecasting. I use YNAB heavily for budgeting and I’ve thought a bit about putting more detail into Projectifi. Projectifi doesn’t seem like the right tool to me for the level of detail you’re describing.

For our kids, right now we just have an annual “Dependent” expense per kid and a monthly 529 expense per kid. It’s approximate and I’ll likely need to adjust up over time, but it’s close enough for the broad projection that Projectifi is.

For things like wedding, I’d do that as a custom expense, which is how I’ve done vehicles for our kids when they turn 18 and are going off to college.

If I can suggest, a way to create “actors” and simulate them (a kid that is born on year N, and goes through phases XYZ”) would be helpful. Then you can copy-pasta your 5 kids at different starting ages.
