I would like to see this as an option in some accounts like Taxable Investments, IRA, etc.

Being able to add: * Stock ticker * Number of shares * Cost basis * Purchase date

    would facilitate tracking…

the problem I think comes in “ok, but what next?” because I think the scope of this could start ballooning up.

Should there be an income type of selling stock that then reduces the taxable investment account and calculates capital gains automatically from the cost basis + purchase date set in the account?

For long-term buy-and-hold approaches, I think putting it into account could be helpful… but personally, I’m satisfied with just updating my account balances in Projectifi quarterly when I rebalance, and then “capturing progress” to set a net worth snapshot. It won’t be 100% accurate, but it should give a good enough idea of how things are looking and might look in 20 years.

This might be easier to solve with a generic Notes field added to each account/asset type. Which would also be useful to give yourself some background on the account.
