For the US this could be automatic – all self-employment income could be used when contributing to a Solo 401k for example. (This could capture rental income marked as self-employment, and all Income sources of self-employment type.)

Or you could make this more generic, and allow the user to multi-select from income sources – perhaps that way it could be applicable to other cash flow priorities / account types.
