I have a pension which allows me to choose a spousal benefit. I can choose to have no spousal benefit, a 50%, and a 100% benefit. For the 50% benefit I would take a reduced pension and she would get 50% of my pension for the rest of her life. For the 100% I would receive even a more reduced benefit for her to receive 100% when I die.
