From our discussion on Roth optimization, we highlighted the potential value in altering the account drawdown order by milestone, as a way to help optimize the benefits of Roth conversions.
I was thinking this same thing recently. But coupled with tax bracket based withdrawal priority as well.
I find myself playing around with all the Roth conversion variables to control income to balance IRMAA and RMD and with each iteration I have to tweak drawdown order which again means tweaking the Roth variables.
I was just trying to find this feature and checked here to make sure it was already suggested. Definite upvote from me.
Really would love to see this feature. I have several accounts to draw from in multiple countries, so it is almost essential.
I see this is a suggestion from 2022, but I feel it’s pretty critical, as a uniform drawdown order across the whole plan timeline is very limiting. I hope this moves to ‘Planned’ soon; it’s paid its dues here on the ‘Suggestions’ list.
Thinking about getting premium so trying out the product. First thing I am trying to do is specify monthly expense (everything 8K a month) then a way to draw from an annuity and then a 401K for the remainder of the expense each month. Letting PL take care of inflation, COLA on the annuity etc. All for a set period of time (now until social security milestone kicks in and takes over drawdown from the 401K). I would think this would be a fairly common scenario for many retirees but I am struggling with this in PL.
This would be a great addition to the ability to set drawdown order by account.
i would like to alter drawdown order by the new flexibility feature in 4.4 as well
