I would like to expand on this.

Conditional expense or income item, especially Tax Credit and Tax Deduction.

And I’d like to be able to make them conditional on things that happen in the current year (i.e. if income is too high, you don’t get a certain tax deduction or tax credit).

In order to do a gradual phaseout of a credit or deduction this would need to be a bit more elaborate, and allow the user to specify a phaseout table to work against a given metric. (e.g. AGI).

However, I could see people wanting to setup the same kind of phaseout structure for an expense as well, so it could have broad uses.

Came here to add my use-case. I have a recurring (and increasing) expense for vacations. When running the monte carlo simulations I noticed a lot of the failed scenarios were pretty unrealistic. If the market had actually tanked for 5 years straight and my accounts were dropping to zero there’s no way I’d continue taking increasingly expensive vacations. There’s some discretionary expenses that would slow or stop in those situations.

Maybe this could be solved with conditions on expenses like we have for milestones. Being able to say that an expense should happen every year, but only if liquid net worth is over x amount, or increased y% from the previous year would probably be close enough to how I would actually act in that situation.

This one feature is the key feature I’m looking for in any projection software. I’ve been unable to find it anywhere and had to resort to writing my own software, but projection lab is almost perfect other than this missing feature.
