    Oops, I submitted too quickly. To elaborate a bit, my US mortgage can be reconfigured to allow for biweekly payments. This results in 13 “monthly payments” per year instead of 12 months, thereby paying off your mortgage faster. Alternatively, you can make your own additional payment during the year.

    For example, on a mortgage of 30 years, going biweekly will bring in the payoff date by five years.
