Global Market Returns Options as Presets in Chance of success
When running chance of success and setting the data elements, in absence of per-account asset allocations (which I see in planned features), when using plan level returns, I’d like to be able to apply a total portfolio typical return rate and associated std deviations to the plan. The way vanguard represents this to investors is in the link I’ve added.
In a perfect world for me, I’d be able to select a % stock/% bond allocation and have that apply to all accounts for simplicity, when not using per-account allocations as discussed in other feature requests.
If you want to keep the same four buckets of options this is also ok but I think overkill and just adds to the confusion between different ways of modeling - I think it’d be better to just allow a selection which includes all the %s to apply across the model, and be less cluttered - like “Vanguard Global 70% Stock/30% Bonds” or “Ray Dalio Ultimate Buy and Hold Portfolio”.
Getting accurate data on these historically has become easier though the start and end dates still vary quite a bit - I think a simplified interface that allows picking random years in sequence or going in order form a start date within the range should be sufficient. If I were to suggest one value to allow picking separately from the total allocation it would be inflation, but in reality inflation rates are correlated with returns so in fact removing selecting that separately as an option would probably be preferable in terms of driving people toward options that are more real world reasonable results.
